WHAT IS

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE?

Christian Science was discovered in 1866 by Mary Baker Eddy in Lynn, Massachusetts, following a physical healing which she experienced as a result of her prayers and dedicated study of the Bible.  She wrote the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which was first published in 1875.  In 1879 Mrs. Eddy founded the Christian Science church "...to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing"  (Church Manual, p 17).

The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston (The Mother Church), branch churches and societies around the world are united in working to fulfill Mary Baker Eddy's vision of a church which makes Christ Jesus' works more universally understood and practiced.

Documented healings from the result of prayer alone can be found in the Christian Science Sentinel, published weekly and the Christian Science Journal, published monthly as well as online at  www.jsh-online.com.
